What is Nerdio?

Nerdio is a vendor supplying platforms offering tooling and automation functionality around AVD on Azure. Nerdio was established in 2005 as a supplier for MSPs (Managed Service Providers) and as such, now has two distinct products: one focused on individual enterprises (Nerdio Manager for Enterprise formerly called Nerdio Manager for AVD) and the other (Nerdio Manager for MSP) specifically for MSPs managing multi-tenanted environments.

What is Nerdio Manager for Enterprise?

Help IT to automate and build processes around large AVD deployments and includes a UI designed to be used by engineering and helpdesk staff to deploy the environment and provide ongoing user management. Capabilities like desktop image management, performance monitoring, and user session control help eliminate the need for complex scripting.
Many use Nerdio to reduce Azure costs with schedule and event-driven auto scaling and to speed up AVD deployments with guided setup wizards, reducing engineering workload.
Assist the reinforcement of existing security policies and compliance. It addresses data residency concerns being deployed as a secure Azure application inside customer’s own Azure subscription in a geographic location of their choice.

Nerdio is a very popular choice, particularly with those new to VDI or Azure, with no predilections towards a specific VDI supplier, such as Citrix or VMWare for deploying AVD (Azure Virtual Desktops, was WVD).

Nerdio Manager for MSPs is a multi-tenant, workflow-powered cloud management platform designed to help Managed Service Providers (MSPs) accelerate Microsoft Azure, Intune, Azure Virtual Desktop, and Windows 365 deployments, and to simplify management across customers. For many Nerdio Manager for MSPs increases automation and optimizes costs and can offer a ROI via increased margins.

AVD is a relatively new EUC product and whilst progress has been dramatic it lacks some elements of feature maturity, especially for those looking to deploy AVD at scale in enterprise or MSP scenarios. Nerdio enables certain automation workflows and provides certain features that many have been used to with traditional on-prem VDI technologies from vendors such as Citrix or VMware.
